Budding Bookworms Wanted!: Lapsit Story time (1-2 Year Olds) Topic: Frogs

"Spring Into Reading" with a bright and interactive song and dance-filled story time. Welcome to Budding Bookworms Lapsit Story time (Mondays at 10 am), where story time and play time are combined. We'll shake our wiggles out, sing, tell flannel board stories, read a book or two and have loads of fun. We use items such as egg shakers, streamers or bubbles to bring our story time to life. Bring your doll or teddy bear along so they can enjoy this story.

This week's story time topic is frogs. We will bring the story time alive by reading one or two of these books: Fribbity Ribbit! by Suzanne C. Johnson, The Wide-Mouthed Frog by Keith Faulkner and Down by the Cool of the Pool by Tony Mitton.

Here's a sneak peek at our Froggy Princess or Prince and a croak-tastic song!

Green Frog (Tune: She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain")
Oh a green frog sat upon a lily pad
Oh a green frog sat upon a lily pad
He went croaky, croaky, croaky
and he sounded okey-dokey
Oh a green frog sat upon a lily pad.

Royally cool!

Bryan Gruley
Bryan Gruley
We are honored to be hosting a very special guest. Author Bryan Gruley will help us kick off National Library Week (April 10-16th) with Suspense on Sunday in the Friends Meeting Room at 2 pm.

Mr. Gruley is the author of Starvation Lake and The Hanging Tree which have received kudos from many literary critics. These books are centered around hockey, Midwestern small town life and the newspaper industry.

His literary genius owed him a nomination by the Mystery Writers of America. The prestigious Edgar Award nomination was for Best First Novel for Starvation Lake. Starvation Lake is now in its eighth printing.

Gruley will discuss the previously mentioned books and will give us insight into what the third installment of the Starvation Lake series, titled the Skeleton Box is all about.

You will be captivated by the skillful prose of Gruley's writing style which has been compared to Dennis Lahane. Books will be available for purchase.

Tweet, tweet, ain't that sweet?  Join us on April 6th at 4:30 pm when the Reading Robins Preschool Story time topic is birds! We'll be reading bird-themed stories, singing pretty songs, creating a cool craft and dancing our story time away.  This story time is definitely for the birds!

Here's a sneak peek at our Blueberry the Bluebird craft and a song that will have you peeping and cheeping all day long!

Birds (Tune: "Here We go Round the Mulberry Bush")
This is the way we scratch for worms, scratch for worms, scratch for worms.
This is the way we scratch for worms so early in the morning.
This is the way we peck our food, peck our food, peck our food.
This is the way we peck our food so early in the morning.
This is the way we sit on our eggs, sit on our eggs, sit on our eggs.
This is the way we sit on our eggs so early in the morning.
This the way we flap our wings, flap our wings, flap our wings.
This is the way we flap our wings so early in the morning.
This the way we fly away, fly away, fly away.
This is the way we fly away so early in the morning.
