Summer Reading may be over, but that doesn't mean it's time to stop reading! Start off your school year with Chasing Vermeer! Join us for an open discussion about the book with snacks on Thursday, August 31st. We have copies of the book available at the circulation desk.

Join us for the last session of Summer Bingo before school starts. Bingo starts at 3pm in the Friends Meeting Room. It is available for all ages and everyone walks away with a prize!

Saturday, August 5th is the last day to turn in your logs for Summer Reading! 
Remember, you can pick up the prizes you earned and mark your place on our gear wall. Any completed logs will be considered for our Grand Prizes!

Last Week of Summer Reading

Summer Reading ends this Saturday, August 5th! There is still a little time to finish up your reading log and turn it in before Summer Reading ends. When you turn in your log you will have a chance to collect any prizes that you have earned and add your gears to our wall.

Summer Reading

There is still about 1 month left of Summer Reading! If you haven't signed up already, stop by the Youth Services desk to sign up and pick up your log sheet. Participants are free to choose their own books and are accountable for the time they spend reading. They will earn prizes along the way!

Summer Reading

There is still plenty of time to sign up and take part in our Summer Reading Program!
Summer Reading helps prevent Summer Slide, where students lose some of their academic achievement gains throughout the summer. 

Our summer reading programs allows participants to choose the books they want to read and keeps track of the time spent reading throughout the summer. As additional incentive, there are prizes they can earn along the way! 

Not sure what books to read this summer? Ask our Youth Services Librarians for help finding the right book for your reader!

Exotic Wildlife Santuary

This interactive wildlife program will feature animals from all over the world! Participants will learn about the important role these animals play in the world, conservation, and the importance of preservation while seeing the animals up close and personal.

Stop in right after school lets out to sign up, get your log, and learn about the fun prizes you can earn along the way. Summer Reading is open for Pre-K through 12th Grade!

The Library will be closed Sunday, May 28 and 
Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. 



This also marks the start of our summer hours. We will be closed every Sunday through Labor Day. Please contact the Youth Services desk for any questions, or visit the library website for more information.

Summer Programs

The Summer Programs Brochure is now available in the Program Brochures tab, on the OBPL website, and at the Youth Services Desk.

Over the next week, Miss Theresa will be visiting every class at Brook Forest, and each student will be given a program brochure as well, be sure to check their backpack! 
Call the Youth desk or stop in to sign up for programs, all summer long. 

Summer Reading starts on June 5th! We will be Reading by Design all summer long, so look forward to Maker programs, Coding, STEM, Storytimes, Chess, the Dupage Children's Museum, and much more!

Window Art

We are getting ready for 

Summer Reading!


This weekend 14 kids painted the windows in our Youth area as part of our Maker Madness program. The artwork is all themed around reading in the summer and our theme Reading By Design. We love their creativity! Come see all the different windows done by these budding artists!
